Many times I hear homeowners inquiring about a garage door panel replacement, but do they realize what they are really asking for? When a panel breaks the best thing to do is to replace it. Now the question is if two panels are broken what is better to replace or repair? Lets take a look at this dilemma.

When a panel is attempted to be repaired in reality it is just a quick short term fix. At the most the panel will function properly will be a few months and then it will begin deteriorating again. At the end you end up paying more then if you replaced it.

Well here is another dilemma, panel replacement cost anywhere between $280 to $350 per panel, if you have more than one panel broken it is cheaper to buy a new door!!  Also although doors seem to look the same they are not constructed the same. This economy forced a few garage door manufactures to shut down, consecutively a lot of garage door models ended up with no panel replacement leaving you with no choice other then to buy a new garage door.

In conclusion repair is out of the question not only is it expensive but the repair won't last. If you are lucky and the manufacture is around replacing a panel is a good option only when one is just damaged if you have more than one panel damaged replacing the door will be much cheaper.
